White Water Rafting @ Kuala Kubu Baru

Went to Kuala Kubu for White Water Rafting last Saturday. Another small personal record. Surprisingly the whole experience did not appear to be as scary as I thought it would be. All you need to do is to follow your leader, forward.. Back.. left.. right... and most important command will be HOLD and SIT-IN! Simple English, but as usual, execution is always more difficult than theory. 40 of us went on the same trip, and we were split into 7 groups, and together with me on the same raft are mainly my BFFs Kalel, ShiMin, Lia, Ilham and Yoong How, commander Pie, and his assistant Along. (What BFF is? Take a good guess).

Group photo before the journey started (Still very dry)

My BFF team

Journey began... We went through quite a number of drops, each of them has a very unique name, e.g. first canon, second canon, chicken drop, broken nose.. These names definitely sounded "welcoming" and comforting, but unfortunately these weren't revealed to us earlier before we started, and the only way back was to climb over the moutain, down another hill, through another forest, on your slipper, or in some case bare foot. I think, the best option is to close your eyes and hold tightly to the string on the edge of the raft. Surprisingly, my raft did not capsize throughout the journey, even with the black sheep (me) on it. My lucky day indeed.

Here come the splash...

This is apparently called the "Chicken Drop" .. Brave little chicken we are indeed.

Another drop - 2nd Canon

Woohoo! Look @ that man..

Everyone's paddles up in the air... So guess who was the one doing the rowing? Thank god we survive.

Don't worry. She is only practicing her "self-rescue" technique

Vincent - Attenpting to "knock-on-the-heaven's-door" twice the same morning.

We had a break mid-way - icy waterfall ...

Group photo :D

Enjoying the apples, sneaker bar, muesli..

Our BFF group photo again.. (Left to right: Yoong How *ahem*, Shi Min, me, Ilham, Kalel - tall guy, Lia)

Overall, this is a very enjoyable trip. I'd love to do this again, despite the sleep deprivation and bruises everywhere.

10km KL Marathon

I have made two personal records last Sunday. Firstly, I got up at 5am (Gosh… I can’t even remember when I last did that.. Probably in high school). And, why 5am? Unbelievably cos’ I was heading to the KL Marathon. I was kind of “pulled” into this (Still trying to refrain using the word “con”). There were 4 categories: 7km, 10km, 21km and the ultimate full marathon 42km. I was put into the de-facto 10km category, although I did very-much-wish to join the 7km which was only open to High-School kids. BUT, one of our project teammates actually took part in the 42 km. So, who says Accenture folks are unfit?

The run started at 7am sharp. I did not study the running route map beforehand, hence every turn I made was a good surprise that morning. The marathon brought me from Dataran Merdeka up the hill to Jalan Pudu, then passed through Times Square, then continued to end of Jalan Imbi, then turned left to Jalan Bukit BIntang (Pavilion’s corner), then made a right turn at Jalan Sultan Ismail, continued to end of Jalan SI and turned left into Jalan TAR…continued to the end of road and that’s the finishing line… (Sounded damn easy here IF you Drive!) Worst thing is that my IPOD is left at home, hence I was running without any music tempo.. It just doubled up the level of difficulty.. man.

Nevertheless, I did enjoy the run, mainly cos’ I was running with such big group of people, and running on road is far more interesting than on the gym treadmill where my focus is largely distracted by the ticking of timer and calorie counter… Crossed the finishing line at 8.15am … YAYY!!!… I actually completed the marathon. Even I find it very difficult to believe that. (I thought I’d wave for the taxi mid-way). Received a small medal which says “10KM Run Finisher” … I’m so gonna frame this up and show it to my grand-grandkids.. and tell them about my weishui marathon story.. (LOL, my grand2kids are so going to like me :P)

Some photos of the heroic group from Accenture..

All in red vest standing by @ 6.30am *Yawn* (From Left: Annafi, Walter, Denis, Kalel, me, Ilham, Ilham's Hubby)
